Plenty of dogs can swim. Far fewer can swim for twenty minutes, climb back into a boat, or cope when a current picks up. A vest keeps their back end up, keeps them visible, and gives you something solid to grab.

Dogs tire from the back first — the rear end sinks, the head tips up, and swimming turns into struggling. Pearl-cotton panels run the length of the vest so the body stays level and the effort stays low.
The reinforced handle sits over the shoulders, the strongest lifting point. One hand gets a soaked dog out of a pool, off a paddleboard or back into a boat without grabbing at a collar.

Belly and chest straps adjust independently, so a deep-chested breed and a barrel-shaped one can both get a snug fit. Snug matters: a loose vest slides forward and pushes into the throat.
Bright panels and high-contrast designs make a small head far easier to track across a lake or a busy beach, which matters more than most owners expect.

The shell is Oxford cloth — a tight woven polyester that resists abrasion from boat decks, pool edges and gravel, and dries fast rather than staying heavy. Flotation comes from pearl cotton panels sewn into separate compartments, so the buoyancy stays distributed instead of bunching at one end after a season of use. The rescue handle is bar-tacked through the load-bearing seam rather than stitched to the surface fabric.
